At Swift, training for your CDL takes anywhere from 3-4 weeks from beginning your training to receiving your license.

After you graduate from Swift Academy and earn your Class A CDL, take it to the next level with Top Gun! Top Gun is an advanced training program to help make you a safer, better-prepared driver. Drivers will receive high focus practice on all backing and close quarter maneuvers and get paid while doing so. Select students are eligible for Top Gun at participating locations, gaining hands-on experience from the finest instructors in the industry.

HOW OUR CDL TRAINING COSTS WORK

Swift Academy provides low-cost CDL training through a tuition-assistance program that allows you to earn your Class A CDL with little to no upfront costs¹, aside from the fee for your permit and license and daily incidentals, like food. Your education, books, and transportation costs are covered when you sign Swift’s financial agreement, and agree to drive for Swift for 26 months after receiving your license. Plus, you'll be paid while driving with a mentor². (And, if you're coming to Swift from another CDL training program, we even have a tuition reimbursement program³ for you.)

VETERAN'S TRAINING PROGRAM

For those who have served our country, we want you to know we're here for you. With our scholarship program for military veterans, you and your spouse or dependent can receive a full scholarship⁴ to the Swift Academy. And after you've earned your Class A CDL, you can take part in our nationally approved Military Apprenticeship Program, which can give you even greater financial rewards as you embark on your journey with Swift.

CVTA Recognition

Swift Academy is a recognized member of the Commercial Vehicle Training Association (CVTA).

CVTA is the largest association of professional truck driver training programs in the United States. All schools belonging to CVTA must meet the association’s requirements for curriculum and training standards by passing through an oversight committee to determine their training program’s suitability for membership.

²New Swift Academy graduates will be required to drive with a mentor for 4-5 weeks. Drivers with verifiable experience elsewhere may drive with a mentor for less time. The length of time any driver is required to drive with a mentor is determined on a case-by-case basis.
